Domains and spaces

Domains

A domain is a website you collect feedback on — its host (e.g. example.com) and the list of languages your surveys on it can be shown in. Manage yours from Domains: add a domain, set its host, and pick which locales it supports. A survey's own available languages follow whatever locales its domain has configured — see Languages for how that connects.

Each plan includes a set number of domains; creating one past your limit is blocked until you upgrade or buy additional domain slots. See Free & paid accounts for the actual per-tier numbers.

Without a website

A website is optional. If the space's Admin answers on first sign-in that there's no website yet, the space is set up without one, with the languages picked there. On-site surveys and email surveys work as usual in such a space — both are hosted on our pages, so they don't need a site of your own. Inline forms, popups, popups with no button and chat surveys are shown on your own website, so they can't be created or published until you add one.

The languages picked at setup can't be edited while the space has no website. Once you add one, you can change them like any other domain's.

When you have a website, add it on Domains. Nothing starts over: the website takes over everything the space already has, and its surveys, responses and languages stay exactly as they were. It also doesn't use up an extra domain slot — the website counts as your space's first domain.

Changing a website's address

A domain's address can be changed once, from the domain's edit dialog on Domains. In a space that started without a website, entering the address when you add the website counts as that one change, so double-check it before saving. To change an address after that, write to [email protected].

Spaces

A space holds one or more domains, along with your employees, teams, and billing. Most accounts only ever have a single space — one is created for you when you sign up, and everything (domains, surveys, employees) lives in it.

Naming the space is optional: leave the name empty when you sign up and one like amber-otter is picked for you. Invited teammates see this name in their invitation, and recipients of your email surveys see it as the sender — and an Admin can change it at any time with the rename button next to the space's name on the Domains page.

Spaces lets you switch which space's data you're viewing. Whichever space and domain you have selected applies across the whole admin app — surveys, responses, the dashboard, and alerts are all scoped to the currently selected domain.
